Recent Performances and Events
- DC Premiere of lotus and poppy to take place Saturday, Dec. 5, with the Great Noise Ensemble at Catholic University
- Summer-Night Songs to be performed at the Mansion at Strathmore by saxophone-harp duo Pictures on Silence, Nov. 18
- Andrew Simpson performed a concert of his silent film music in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on August 14. The concert, held in the Sala Cecelia Meireles, was enthusiastically received by the large audience in attendance.
- Red Cedar Trio announced its latest recording, a complete disc of Simpson's music! Fireflies: Chamber Music by Andrew Earle Simpson, released on Fleur de Son Classics in April 2009. Click here to read the American Record Guide review (Sept.-Oct. 2009)
- Becoming Charley Chase, a DVD box set of silent films starring the 1920's writer-comedian, was released in summer 2009. Nine new Simpson scores appear on this box set, both solo piano, jazz trio, and chamber scores for the Snark Ensemble.
- Silent Explosions, Invisible Jumps: Simpson directed a multimedia performance event with silent film, dance, and music at Catholic University on March 11. New music by CUA composers, new choreography and dance, music were performed by the Snark Ensemble.
