Anthony Randolph (B.M., M.M. Howard University, D.M.A., The Catholic University of America), Adjunct Lecturer of Composition. Studied composition with Thomas Korth, Anthony Stark, and Andrew Simpson. Compositions include, among others, Requiem Mass for the African-American Slave, Baghdad, the Day After (a symphonic poem), Five Movements for String Quartet, and Three Songs for Soprano and String Quartet. Commissions include the score for To Do Battle in the Land, (a documentary film on the life of abolitionist John Brown), recorded by the Howard University Choir under the direction of James Weldon Norris, and Songs of the Forgotten War: a group commission inspired by the Korean War Memorial in Washington, DC. One of 19 composers commissioned to reflect upon one of the 19 bronze soldiers of the memorial and compose a one-minute composition. Has taught music on the elementary and junior high level for sixteen years and is a member of The College Music Society, The Society for Music Theory, American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers, and The American Composers Forum.
